Whilst on holidays visiting my beautiful niece I heard about a locally owned store that sold beautiful maternity wear and nursing sports wear. Being pregnant at the time one would have thought thats what made my ears prick up. Actually it was the fact that this store stocked a range of nursing sports wear. After the birth of my first daughter I was left a bit frustrated trying to find an appropriate nursing bra, that also gave enough support that I could run in.

Having done plenty of sweat sessions that ended in my bubba needing a feed, I was excited to hear that Polka Dot Pop stocked sports bras for nursing mums. HOORAY!!  I wasn’t going to have the same pain this time around with my new bubba girl. Let me tell you more

The Online Store: Polka Dot Pop

If you have read my previous product review on the Cadenshae Fit2Feed Nursing Sports Bra, you will be familiar with the online store Polka Dot Pop and the Active Wear range that they offer. Polka Dot Pop is committed to providing a range of stylish, quality, well fitting maternity and nursing range for women at an affordable price. Owner Danielle Strickland does this very well. The Brand: Cadenshae

Cadenshae is a New Zealand based nursing activewear range, created by young mother Nikki Croft. The brand aims to produce colourful, stylish nursing activewear and sportswear that allows nursing mums to be active and live their day-to-day life as a busy mums, whilst allowing the freedom to feed their baby when and where they need to. The brand continues to evolve and is gaining a large following of very happy nursing mums who are now getting active in comfort and style!

The product: Cadenshae Loose Fit Tank

The Cadenshae Loose Fit Tank is available in ‘Lush Berry’ which is a combination of ocean blue and electric/hot pink. It comes in sizes Extra Small – Extra Large, and is made from cotton and spandex. Priced at $59.99, the tank is designed for expecting and nursing mothers. The top features include: nursing sports wear

  • Dual layer design with a built-in crop top
  • Crop top has vertical pocket to allow for easy access forbreastfeeding
  • Breathable mesh outer layer for ventilation.

The Verdict!

This top teams perfectly with the Fit2feed Nursing Sports Bra along with other Cadenshae Sports Bras. The dual layer design and the vertical access pocket in the crop top allow for easy access for breastfeeding if you are wearing an appropriate sports bra. Although the tank has an inbuilt crop top, the tank itself would not be suitable to wear on its own. A bra is definitely required underneath. The inbuilt crop top does provide some additional support. However, if you are performing moderate to high impact exercise, I would recommend using a good quality nursing sports bra to accompany it. Thus far I am yet to find one as good as the Cadenshae Nursing Sports Bras and would use them together. The colours compliment perfectly too. The mesh material is definitely breathable and very comfortable. Personally, I love the colours and the design/style.

In terms of maternity/nursing active wear this is one of the most attractive designs that I have come across. Many nursing ‘active wear’ designs often come in very plain colours, and the designs are usually unflattering and ill fitting. There are a variety of beautifully designed maternity active wear, however, these are specifically for expecting mums and will not serve you well once baby has arrived. The Cadenshae loose fitting tank fits well, is flattering and will last during pregnancy and beyond which makes it excellent value for money.

Overall, I really like this tank (and the whole Cadenshae range!). This tank will serve you well during pregnancy and beyond. Teamed with an appropriate sports bra you will enjoy wearing it during moderate to high impact exercise. Without a ‘super supportive’ nursing sports bra it would still be suitable for walking, yoga and other low impact exercise.
