TRIATHLETE-MUM

Swim Ride Mum helps Mums enjoy an active lifestyle, with an holistic approach to health. Taryn, founder of SRM, understands the unique challenges that being an 'Active Mum' bring. Not only are Mums time poor and sleep deprived, their bodies have also undergone changes that often require rehabilitation and attention.

SRM wants you to be able to participate in all the sports and leisure activities you did pre-babies! So whilst we believe it's SO important that you restore your core before you go ahead with high intensity exercise, we also believe that you should be able to challenge your core in ways that are safe yet challenging!

If you want to run, you've got to train to run! Doing floor core work ain't going to get you the whole way! You know what I'm saying? If you want to take care of your body from the inside out, and want to participate in high intensity exercise without being told 'you can't' than SRM is for you!

Here at SRM we offer so much more than helping you with your triathlon and running training and competition! SRM aims to inspire, motivate and challenge Mums so that they can reap the rewards that an active lifestyle brings. We love sharing practical advice and training tips, so that every Mum can have the chance to tri! SRM lives by 4 core values:

COMMUNITY

We are an inclusive community where everybody is welcome! Whether it be your first triathlon, you are a top age-groper and even if you are a pro - if you are a Mum that loves triathlon you belong to our community. There is no judgement here, just support and friendly guidance!

PASSION

Whatever you decide to do, do it with passion! We believe in Dreaming BIG and being BRAVE! Don't worry about what others think.

AUTHENTIC & REAL

Life is not all roses, and we won't pretend that it is. We share the good, the bad and the plain old ugly! We sweat, our bodies are imperfectly perfect, we don't wear make up to the gym and sometimes we lose our shit! We are all about balance! LIVE A LITTLE. Eat the carbs, drink the wine, enjoy the chocolate! There are no rules here! You are in control! Your goals, on your terms in your time!

HOW SRM WAS BORN

After Sophie was born I felt like I really wanted something just for myself. Many women say that when they have children, they feel isolated as a 'stay at home mum' and they begin to feel like they lose their identity. Because I planned to take well over a year off work with my new bubba, I was determined not to let this happen to myself. I knew that if I could find a passion outside of my role of being a Mum, I would continue to love staying at home with my children. I found myself an awesome coach, a great support network and I was set!

Although I didn't have family close by to help take care of Soph while I trained, my husband and I found ways to manage. I was lucky enough to experience triathlons all around Australia. I also got myself a 'ticket to Chicago' where I represented Australia at the Age Group World Championships. Pretty cool! Chicago is awesome by the way!

Back then, none of our family had children. Something must have been in the water because the next year we had an explosion of cousins! My sister and in laws had a few questions for me as to how to keep active now that they had a bubba. Things like how long until they can exercise again, how to manage with breastfeeding etc. I loved being able to give them some pointers. I had the same questions when I had a new bubba boo, but I had no one to answer them for me. Hence why SRM now exists!

After having my second baby, my body didn't recover as easily. This inspired me to learn more about Women's health and the best ways to recover postpartum and what I should be doing to make sure I recovered appropriately. I have a learnt a bucket load that I share in my blog.
